Following the noted improvement in traffic management the Local Councils decided to introduce CCTV cameras in various localities around Malta and Gozo. These cameras were put up in various hotspots where it was evident that an added deterrent against vandalism, littering or traffic violations was necessary. These cameras are monitored remotely, 24/7, by a trained team of Local Wardens, from a Central Control Room . The presence of CCTV cameras has further assisted Local Councils to establish law and order within their communities.
Speed cameras are also managed by the Warden Agency. The speed limits vary according to the type of road and are imposed in accordance with Transport Malta regulations. Statistics show that speed cameras have considerably reduced the number of accidents in the roads where they operate.
